Abstract: 1 show that under certain conditions the spectrum of density fluctuations associated with a toroidal version of the rippling instability presents a significant top-bottom asymmetry. The latter follows from the asymmetry of the radial component of the magnetic drift. The wave propagates in the direction of the electron diamagnetic velocity. Its frequency is about 1.71 $\eta_{e} \omega^{*}_{e} [\omega^{*}_{e}$ = electron diamagnetic frequency ; $\eta_{e}$ = (dln T$_{e}$ /dr) / (dInN/dr)].
